The second generation of Lexus NX is launched. The SUV has a new sporty style, more functions, and updated engine options. The new Lexus NX is more elegant and modern. It is equipped with more technologies and new safety features. It provides a variety of gasoline engines and Variant PHEVs.
New Lexus NX – Design
Through the design of this second-generation NX, Lexus has taken a more evolutionary approach rather than a revolutionary approach. Lexus said it was inspired by the LF-Z EV concept car launched earlier this year. At first glance, this SUV is still considered NX, although the Japanese automaker has adjusted it to make it look more stylish and modern. At first, Lexus’s new spindle grille still took center stage, although the new integrated headlights (replacing the split headlights of the previous model) really helped clean up the appearance of the SUV.
The C-shaped air intake with integrated fog lights also makes the front end more aggressive. From the side, the longer hood, new characteristic lines, and sharper folds make the new NX different from its predecessor. Although viewed from the side, its overall appearance and profile are similar to those of the previous model, but it still maintains an asymmetrical and sporty profile. At the rear, newly carved LED taillights span the width of the SUV, connecting the light bar to truly modern NX. Another change at the rear is the Lexus lettering on the tailgate (just below the light bar), which replaces the old “L” badge of the automaker.
New Lexus NX – Interior and functions
Like the exterior, the new NX’s interior also uses a new instrument panel design that is more driver-oriented, similar to the LF-Z concept. The instrument panel is dominated by a new 9-inch touch screen infotainment system (upgradeable to a 14-inch unit) with the latest Lexus software. Other features provided by NX include a 360-degree camera, automatic headlights and wipers, wireless mobile charging, electric front seats, and a digital dashboard, to name a few.
The new NX also offers many safety features, such as ABS with EBD, traction and stability control, and front and rear parking sensors. It also has a blind motion monitoring system that can be used in conjunction with the new Lexus E-Latch to prevent the door from opening when approaching a vehicle or cyclist.
New Lexus NX – Engine
Under the hood, Lexus will provide a variety of four-cylinder gasoline engine options for the new NX, including a 2.4-liter gasoline turbocharger that produces 279 hp and 430 Nm, and a 2-liter 5-liter naturally aspirated. The unit produces 205 horsepower and 250 Nm, as well as a 242 horsepower plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version of the same engine in the NX 350h. There is also a more powerful version of the PHEV powertrain in the NX 450h+, which outputs our 306 horsepower. Lexus claims that the PHEV has a cruising range of 58 kilometers. Some variants will also offer new electronically controlled all-wheel-drive systems.
Lexus NX – Expected India
When Lexus launches the new NX in India, the price of the SUV is expected to be slightly higher than the current model (in front of the showroom) at a price of Rs 54.90-60.60 lakh.
