With the release of the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53, Mercedes has debuted its top-of-the-line EV sedan, the EQS, in the Indian market. At Rs 2.45 crore, it is priced Rs 88 lakh higher than the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and Rs 1.46 crore higher than the EQC, Mercedes’ other EV available for purchase in India.
Design and aerodynamics of the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4Matic+’s exterior:
The EQS 53 receives a variety of custom AMG stylistic components over its rounded and smooth cab-forward form, many of which are reminiscent of AMG’s ICE-powered cars’ vintage design cues. These include a customized front grille made of black panels with vertical struts made of “hot-stamped” chrome, as well as an updated front bumper. Despite the fact that the AMG model equals the 0.23Cd of the conventional EQS, AMG claims to have done wind tunnel testing to optimize the airflow and as a result, has modified the rear diffuser, side air intakes, and given it a larger rear spoiler.
Interior and features of the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4Matic+:
The Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4Matic+ features Mercedes’ ‘Hyperscreen’ for the first time in India. The ‘Hyperscreen’ is essentially three screens joined together by a single continuous glass panel that spans the length of the dashboard from pillar to pillar. The driver and front passenger each have 12.3-inch screens, while the center infotainment screen is a larger 17.7-inch unit. It has 24GB of RAM and 8 CPUs.
The cabin of the EQS 53 features sportier elements such as carbon fiber trim and an Alcantara finish on the door pads and steering wheel. The EQS 53 comes with amenities such as 64-color ambient lighting, a Burmester sound system, massaging seats, and optional Nappa leather.
Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+ – Powertrain, Range & Other Specs:
In addition to a 400-volt battery, the AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+ boasts a 107.8 kWh high-voltage battery. The battery pack has a maximum torque of 1020 Nm and a power output of 751 horsepower. Furthermore, the India-spec model with the Dynamic Plus package has 4MATIC+ technology as standard. With this package, the EQS can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds. It also has AMG’s Ride Control+ air suspension, which works in conjunction with rear-axle steering and electronically controlled active dampers. With the AMG Dynamic Select drive modes, the driver can also pre-select the fundamental suspension setting.
