MG Motor India is preparing for the launch of its fourth SUV, the Astor, which will be presented in India in September. The company announced that Astor Entertainment System has in-vehicle connectivity that supports Jio e-SIM. The Jio e-SIM hit the market in September in a number of variants featuring two gasoline engine options.
MG Aster Include’s
The MG Astor is basically an upgraded version of the ZS SUV and is currently sold in India as an EV engine. However, the Astor is equipped with two gasoline engines. Nationally known as the MG Model K, this new SUV is about 4.3 meters. The Astor is MG Motor India’s smallest SUV and sits under the famous Hector at around 4.6 meters in length.
Sharp headlights, new windshields, and MG Aster bumpers set it apart from the ZS EV and redesign the SUV. Inside, expect a panoramic sunroof and plenty of features. As confirmed above, Astor has a 10.1-inch touchscreen entertainment system that uses Jio e-SIM for in-vehicle calling functions.
Engine/Gearbox option
A derivative of the MG Astor, the generic MG ZS has three engines on the international market. This is a 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine producing 115 hp and 150 Nm. Two turbo gasoline engines are also available.
One is a 1.0-liter 112hp 160Nm three-cylinder, and the other is a 126hp 230Nm 1.3-liter turbo engine that combines a six-speed manual transmission and a six-speed automatic with a torque converter. Gasoline engines should be N/A. The gasoline turbo is expected to have a DCT or AT with international capabilities, which is also mentioned in Hector’s new CVT manual.
MG Aster Price Range
MG Astor is expected to become the brand’s largest seller and the company expects sales of this SUV to grow 70%. MG Motor India also wants to maximize the efficiency of the Hallol plant with this new SUV. When MG Astor enters the Indian market, it will outperform its competitors such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Skoda Kushaq. The range is 10 to 15 lakh.
